The Healthy Environments Advance Learning Training Series

HEAL is a two-year project, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to build the knowledge and capacity to improve school environments for students in districts that are most burdened by asthma, extreme heat, and COVID-19. HEAL is a project of Health Resources in Action and the Massachusetts Asthma Action Partnership, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Children’s Environmental Health. HEAL is created in partnership with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC).

This training series provides nine modules focused on best practices and practical applications that help school nurses and other key partners create asthma-friendly learning and work environments in their schools and districts.

These modules were designed specifically with schools in Massachusetts in mind; however, we believe these modules can be useful and informative to anyone, anywhere, as we all have a role to play in environmental health and creating asthma-friendly schools for students across the country.

The HEAL modules are based on Clearing the Air: An Asthma Toolkit for Healthy Schools, a product of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, developed in partnership with Health Resources in Action and the Massachusetts Asthma Action Partnership.

This content was recorded in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.
